CLINTON, Ill. (WCIA) — On Sunday night, Clinton battled four distinct incidents, one of which involved a substantial fire sparked by an electrical emergency.

According to a Facebook update from the Clinton Fire Department, crews were dispatched at approximately 10:32 p.m. to the vicinity of Adams and Walnut Streets in response to the emergency.

Upon arrival, firefighters identified a tree that had collapsed onto transmission electrical wires, causing them to arc across the street. This resulted in significant fire and smoke, exacerbated by winds gusting at 45 mph, which posed a threat to nearby residences.
