CLINTON, Ill. (WCIA) — The Clinton Fire Department lifted its burn ban Sunday morning.
The fire department said the community should still remain cautious when burning, and to make sure to call the fire station or CenCom’s non emergency number when planning a controlled burn.
This comes after a burn ban was issued last Sunday. At the time, the fire department cited dry conditions, wind, and high temperatures as the reason for the burn ban. The ban included all outdoor burning, including but not limited to brush piles, leaves, fields, and small fire pits.
Throughout Central Illinois, burn bans in other communities appear to remain in effect.
In Coles County, the Emergency Management Agency issued a burn ban last week. It has not yet been lifted. Similarly, the Christian County EMA issued a burn ban Sept. 12; this ban also remains in effect.
Burn bans by Virden, Sangamon Valley, Lincoln, Gifford and Witt fire department have also not been lifted as of Sunday afternoon.
