TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Taylorville School District said a volunteer coach has been arrested for misconduct involving a minor.

Police Chief Dwayne Wheeler told WCIA that 22-year-old Karla Collado was arrested for grooming involving a student. She was a volunteer assistant soccer coach.

The school district shared a statement on their website Thursday morning. They said the alleged behavior did not happen on school grounds and the coach was not an employee.

“We want to thank the police department and state’s attorney’s office for their cooperation and communication and their quick work to isolate the situation and help us protect children in our care,” Superintendent Brandi Bruley said.

We reached out to the Taylorville Police Department for more information, but have not heard back yet.

This is a developing story.
