BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. () — An arrest was made at Sallie Zetterower Elementary after the school’s custodial team found cocaine on the property.
On Friday, Aug. 1, school administration notified the School Resource Officer (SRO) Jessica Kite of a small bag containing a white substance, discovered on the floor of a common area inside the school.
The substance was transported to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Crime Suppression Team (CST) for analysis where it was confirmed to be cocaine.
An adult employee was identified as a suspect after reviewing footage from the school’s security cameras.
Pamela Darien is being charged with possession of cocaine and violation of controlled substance laws within a drug-free zone. Darrien voluntarily surrendered to BCSO authorities on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Darien is no longer employed by Bulloch County Schools.
“At no point did any children come into contact with the substance,” said BCSO on a Facebook statement. “The safety of our students and staff remains a top priority for both the Bulloch County School District and the Sheriff’s Office. We commend the swift actions of school personnel and law enforcement in responding to this matter.”
