Coles County Fairground Initiates Reconstruction of Barn Lost in July Blaze

CHARLESTON, Ill. – In the wake of a devastating fire that ravaged a barn at the Coles County Fairgrounds last July, efforts are underway to rebuild from the ashes. The blaze tragically claimed the lives of six horses and a dog, leaving a somber mark on the community.

Jill Brown, who tragically lost several of her horses in the fire, reflects on the painful memories. “It’s difficult to look at the spot every day,” she shared, her voice laden with emotion. “I think about those horses and the dog constantly.”
