MARTINEZ, Ga. — The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed their presence at a shooting scene in Martinez this past Wednesday.

Officials reported that they responded to an incident on Commons Drive, close to the Blue Ridge Commons Apartments, following a shooting that left one victim injured. Law enforcement is actively searching for three individuals believed to be connected to this event.

In response to the situation, the Columbia County School District issued a statement to parents on Wednesday afternoon:

“Authorities have informed us about a shooting involving three individuals at an apartment complex behind Lakeside High School. Students at both the high school and the middle school will remain on campus until further notice. All students are safe.

Students at Blue Ridge Elementary School will stay on campus under a full lockdown until we receive further updates from authorities.”
