EAST ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A home in Waterford Lakes sustained extensive damage after a Comcast contractor burst a pipe, sending sewage into his home.

Damien Styc was taking a shower Tuesday when dirty water flooded his bathroom and spread throughout his house.

“There was sewage water everywhere,” Styc said. “On the carpet, on the baseboards, on all the bathroom surfaces here. Brown water, disgusting water.”

After calling a plumbing company, workers discovered that a Comcast cable tube had damaged an Orange County sewage line.

Styc reached out to Comcast for assistance but said their response was inadequate.

“They promised a team would be here within two hours. By 9 p.m., still no Comcast,” he said.

Styc contacted News 6 via our Results Desk, so we reached out to Comcast, which promised to investigate the issue.

Orange County District 4 Commissioner Maribel Gomez Cordero was also contacted about the issue.

“Orange County Public Works is on the way,” she said.

A Comcast truck arrived 20 minutes later to assess the situation. While repairs won’t be completed immediately, the process has begun.

“Thanks so much for helping us out,” Styc said.

Comcast later acknowledged that its contractor caused the issue and was working to resolve the problem.
