SAVANNAH, Ga. — The tragic death of six-month-old Liam Rye in 2023 touched the hearts of many, rallying the community in a wave of support. However, recent developments in 2025 have stirred concern and anger among community members.

In October 2025, two years after the original incident, Liam’s father, Landon Rye, faced murder charges, unraveling a narrative that had previously been accepted. This revelation has left many feeling betrayed, particularly after the initial story shared by Liam’s mother turned out to be misleading.

The saga began in a Facebook group called “Mama Drama,” which serves as a supportive network for mothers worldwide.

On September 4, Madison Kid, who was then known as Madison Rye, reached out to the group, seeking prayers and support as her infant son, Liam, lay on life support.

“As a mom, witnessing this tiny child on a ventilator was heart-wrenching,” said Mariah Monet, the founder of Mama Drama. “It stirred deep emotions within me and countless other mothers in the group.”

Madison told the group that Liam fell off the bed while co-sleeping with her, causing him to have extreme brain swelling. She also reportedly told Mariah that doctors decided there was nothing they could do, so Liam was taken off life support on Sept. 5th, 2023.

Mariah told she decided to help a grieving mother by raising over $5,000 for the Rye family to properly bury Liam.

She said she noticed inconsistencies in Madison’s story of how the child was injured and later found out she spent that money on a birthday party for her other child and

“She says he rolled off the bed, then she said he hit his head on an object,” said Monet. “Then she says she was at Taco Bell getting breakfast, and she gets a call from Landon that he rolled off the bed it’s not adding up.”

Other members started asking the same questions after a Facebook post of Madison selling Liam’s toys appeared, and she created a GoFundMe asking for $100,000 for funeral costs.

She later told Mariah the money would be used for lawyer fees after the coroner ruled the infant’s death as suspicious.

“She’s like basically the detective on the case is really mean to her, and that the hospital, the detectives that they all think that her or her husband did something to baby Liam,” said Monet. “Now it takes on a whole new energy because not only are you asking me to do something illegal by sharing a go, fund me that says it’s for your son’s funeral, when really you’re trying to get money for lawyer fees because it’s not the story you gave us, which is your son fell off of bed.”

Landon was arrested on Oct. 2 and is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, family violence, and cruelty to children.

Madison has not been charged in connection to the case.
