On Friday evening, the Chatham Area Transit (CAT) Headquarters in Savannah was transformed into a poignant gathering place as family, friends, and community members came together for a candlelight vigil. This heartfelt event was organized to honor the memory of a cherished local woman, Dianne Morral, who tragically passed away after being injured in a bus crash.
Morral succumbed to her injuries earlier this week following the accident that occurred on Skidaway Road on October 18. Her untimely death has left a void in the community, prompting many to gather on East Gwinnett Street to hold candles, reminisce about shared moments, and extend their condolences to Morral’s grieving family.
“She was the life of the party,” recalled Alana Roberts, Morral’s sister, as she addressed those assembled. “The moment she walked into a room, everyone knew she was there. She brought light into every space, with a laugh that was infectious. Dianne was an exceptional mother, a dedicated worker, and an incredible sister.” Her words painted a vivid picture of Morral’s vibrant spirit and enduring legacy.
Although her passing is deeply mourned, attendees of the vigil found solace in the shared remembrance of Morral’s profound impact on their lives. The gathering was not just a moment of mourning but also a celebration of the joy and brightness she brought to everyone she encountered.
While her passing is a tragedy, those who attended said coming together helped them celebrate the impact she had on everyone around her.
