Welcome to July!
We’re kicking off the month with seasonably hot weather today. Highs will climb into the low 90s, and with humidity factored in, heat indices will feel closer to 100 degrees. As the month progresses, we continue to heat up. By the end of July, average highs reach around 96°, so this is just the beginning.
This afternoon and evening, expect scattered showers and storms to pop up again, thanks to a combination of moisture and the afternoon sea breeze.
Looking ahead to Wednesday and Thursday, we’re tracking an approaching cold front. It will help spark additional rounds of scattered rain and storms across the area. By Friday, the front is expected to stall just south of us, which could mean a drop in rain chances for the 4th of July and into the holiday weekend — good news for outdoor plans!
The National Hurricane Center is also keeping an eye on this stalled front though, as there is a low 20% chance of a low-pressure system with tropical development to form. Fortunately, this system is expected to stay closer to Florida, increasing their rain chances toward the weekend, while we remain on the drier side.
