DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Danville Fire Department battled a fire for five hours Friday night into Saturday morning at a city-owned “taxpayer” building.
According to a spokesperson with the Danville Fire Department, firefighters responded to the fire at approximately 10:13 p.m. at the intersection of N Logan Ave. and W Harrison St. near Chandler and W Madison Streets, in an area known as “Madison Square.” The building that caught fire is owned by the City of Danville and is described as a “taxpayer” building that used to be a business on the first level and apartment units on the second level.
This fire took place on the second level. The scene was cleared at approximately 3:14 a.m., roughly five hours after the incident was first reported.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The damage costs are undetermined at this time, as the Danville Fire Department is still working to get a finalized report filled out.
On scene, Danville Fire was assisted by local EMT workers and an ambulance.
