DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A crisis negotiator with the Danville Police Department responded to a home on Thursday for a domestic disturbance with injuries, police said.
It took place near the intersection of Columbia and Sheridan Streets just after 11 a.m. When Danville Police arrived, they found a victim with a deep cut on their face, and the victim said the suspect was still inside the home with another family member.
Police identified that suspect as Timothy Lukas of Danville. Officers surrounded the home, but Lukas refused to exit.
Eventually, a crisis negotiator responded and called Lukas on the phone. Lukas agreed to let police officers inside to check on the family member in the home and once police entered, they took him into custody. He was transported to the Vermilion County Jail and is facing preliminary charges of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and unlawful use of a weapon.
The Danville Police Department is still investigating. Anyone with additional information should call the Danville Police Department at 217-431-2250. To submit an anonymous tip, contact the Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at 217-446-TIPS (8477), visit them online or use the P3TIPS mobile app.
The Danville Police Department added that all subjects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
