City of Danville receiving national award for Garfield Park aquatic center project

In a notable achievement, Danville, Illinois, has been nationally recognized for transforming the Garfield Park Pool into the modern Aquatic Center at Garfield Park.

On Friday, the city revealed that it has earned the Project of the Year Award from the Illinois Chapter of the American Public Works Association. Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr. is set to receive the accolade at a special dinner during the APWA IL Conference in Peoria. He will be joined by Dave Ruwe, Director of Public Works & Engineering, along with the team responsible for designing and constructing the new aquatic facility.
