DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The Decatur Police Department is asking the public for help in solving a burglary that took place early last week.
Police said that officers responded to a convenience store, located at 1101 North Illinois Route 48, early in the morning of June 17. When they arrived, officers noted that the front window next to the main entrance had been removed.
No one was located inside the store when police arrived, but surveillance footage showed two suspects had approached the store from the southwest. One of them broke the window with a large rock, and both suspects entered the store. Police said they stole an estimated $140 worth of merchandise before heading northwest on foot.
One suspect was described as a Black male wearing a dark blue jacket, a white/gray hood, black Puma sweatpants, grey/white Jordan Retro 6 sneakers, a light-colored face mask and gloves. Police also said he was carrying a blue backpack.
The second suspect was described as a Black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black boots, a light-colored face mask and gloves. He was carrying a white plastic bag, police added.
