One dead in two-vehicle early morning Decatur crash

In a bid to enhance public safety, the Decatur Police Department is reaching out to the community for assistance in removing a dangerous firearm from the streets. The appeal follows a concerning incident that unfolded late Friday night.

As the clock neared midnight, officers were dispatched to the area surrounding Monroe and Division Streets. This response came after a flurry of calls from residents reporting gunfire. Upon arrival, the officers discovered a vehicle with a bullet hole on the driver’s side and a nearby house marred by five bullet impacts.
