DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A Decatur man was arrested after police said a hidden camera was found in the tanning bed area of a local Planet Fitness.

On March 18, the Decatur Police Department was contacted after a customer found a hidden camera at the Planet Fitness in Decatur, located at 3194 N. Water Street. Decatur’s Tech Unit immediately began to investigate.

The unit identified the individuals recorded on the camera and have already notified them, including a juvenile victim.

Detectives identified 55-year-old James Barone from Decatur as the suspect. On March 19, Barone was arrested and a search warrant was executed at his home. Multiple electronic items were taken and will be analyzed to see if there are any additional victims.

Barone has been booked in the Macon County Jail on preliminary charges of unauthorized video
recording/live video transmission and production of child pornography.
