AUGUSTA, Ga. () – Hawaiian Style BBQ in Augusta has been bringing lots of fun, flavor and great experiences to the CSRA.

In this episode of Your Hometown Roadtrip, Brandon Dawson and the team visits Hawaiian Style BBQ in Augusta to chat with owner Matt Miskelly to see what the restaurant has to offer.

What is Hawaiian Style BBQ all about?

“It’s in the name – Hawaiian Style BBQ. Plain and simple. We wanna keep it very simple. We want to get straight to it, to the barbeque, to the great food that we serve. We’ve been doing it for over 12 years, so we’ve actually got a really great location over here now. And we’re just serving up some really great food with some really great service.”

How did this business come to be?

“There was Thomas and Tammi Kamae, they really started it out on Gordon Highway. They had a very great product. Born and raised in Hawaii and they brought it over here to show the love of Aloha. They really did it with their food. We were able to team up with them and become partners and we moved it over to this location and taking those recipes and being able to really just rise them up and to this side of town, elevate it and really push it. Our game plan right now is to keep on growing and keep showing the Aloha love and the food and the service.”

What experience do you want customers to have?

“Just having overall a great experience, the service matches the food. No offense, the restaurants this day and age, I feel like the service is really slipping. And that was one thing we really wanted to focus on here, like I said, we knew the food was great, it packs a great punch. The time is there, the work is there, but lead with that service.”

Do you have a message you would like to share with the community?

“I definitely want to say thanks for 12 years. Like I said, kicking it back to Thomas and Tammi, you guys really showed them love for us to be able to bring this idea and this concept to over here to a whole different level and to a different area. Just thank you for the continuous support.”
