OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) — More community members joined the search Wednesday for missing 10-year-old Trinity Eslinger.

Trinity was last seen in Destin in the water between Osteen Beach and Norriego Point on Thursday.

About 12 boats and 40 volunteers from the public joined the United Cajun Navy on Wednesday, searching that area in Destin and beyond.

Trinity’s family members also joined the search.

United Cajun Navy members deployed helicopters, aircraft, and divers during Wednesday’s search. They joined the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, FDLE, U.S. Coast Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Destin Fire Rescue, and more.

Wednesday afternoon, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office announced its search efforts would end at the end of the day.

“Our hearts are heavy, and this is not the outcome anyone hoped for,” said Sheriff Eric Aden. “We are deeply grateful to every agency, volunteer, and community member who gave their all in this search. Our thoughts and prayers are with Trinity’s family during this unimaginable time.”

Although local law enforcement has concluded the active search operation, the Destin community is not stopping. Emerald Coast United is urgently in need of more boats and volunteers to help continue the search.

The United Cajun Navy and Emerald Coast United are extending their search until Thursday and inviting people to join.

According to Emerald Coast United, volunteers can meet at Joe’s Bayou Boat Launch on Thursday, June 19, at 8 a.m. for a briefing.

Organizers said parking fees are waived, and volunteers can let staff know they are with the United Cajun Navy or the Emerald Coast Unit.

All boats are welcome to attend.

Check in with Kevin and “Black Betty” (Mobile Command Center) upon arrival.
