In Coral Gables, Florida, the residence of Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra sustained significant damage due to a large fire early Thursday morning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and Spoelstra was not present when the blaze erupted, according to officials.
The fire was reported to Miami-Dade County fire services at approximately 4:36 a.m. On the previous night, Spoelstra’s team played in Denver, and their charter flight returned to Miami, touching down at 5:11 a.m.

Upon landing, Spoelstra promptly made his way to his home, where multiple fire units were actively battling the flames. Despite the efforts, smoke continued to rise from parts of the property for over three hours after the initial fire response. Around this time, officials were able to declare the fire under control.
Firefighters deployed more than 20 units to tackle the blaze, employing both ground and aerial methods. The fire was successfully confined to Spoelstra’s property, sparing neighboring homes from damage, as confirmed by county officials.
According to property records, Spoelstra purchased the expansive five-bedroom, six-bathroom house in December 2023.
