SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Celebrating a milestone, Visit Savannah, the primary organization promoting tourism in the Greater Savannah area, marks its 50th year of operation.

On Friday, February 13, the organization will celebrate five decades of dedication to the community with a ceremonial toast and cake cutting, honoring its significant legacy and influence on the region.

Originally founded in 1976 as the Savannah Convention & Visitors Bureau by local leaders, the organization was created to share Savannah’s unique story globally and boost the local tourism-driven economy. Over the years, Visit Savannah has transformed into a well-regarded destination marketing authority, enhancing the economy and living standards in Savannah and Chatham County.
