(NEXSTAR) – As the United States gears up to celebrate its 250th anniversary, a range of commemorative events is on the horizon, including a UFC bout set on the White House grounds and an IndyCar race weaving through the streets of Washington, D.C.
The organization orchestrating these grand celebrations is also behind the launch of a convoy of “Freedom Trucks,” which are currently making their way across the nation.
This fleet of six “Mobile Museums” presents an engaging exhibit that traces the journey of the 13 colonies as they declared independence, triumphed over a formidable empire, and laid the foundation for American sovereignty 250 years ago, according to Freedom 250. The exhibits also shine a spotlight on the notable figures, events, and locations that were pivotal during the Revolutionary era and the early years of the United States, as Keith E. Sonderling, Deputy Secretary of Labor and acting director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, noted in a thought piece for Nexstar’s The Hill earlier this year.
