AUGUSTA, Ga. () – Officials at Doctors Hospital of Augusta proudly announced Friday that their Emergency Medicine Residency Program has been awarded accreditation status.
Spanning three years, this residency program offers eight accredited spots annually and aims to provide comprehensive, hands-on training in a dynamic and high-stakes emergency environment, as highlighted by the hospital.
On February 6, Doctors Hospital emphasized that this accreditation marks a pivotal advancement in the expansion of its Graduate Medical Education (GME) program.
“Securing this accreditation is a remarkable accomplishment for Doctors Hospital and our community,” expressed Joanna Conley, CEO of Doctors Hospital of Augusta. “Establishing an accredited Emergency Medicine residency program enables us to nurture the next generation of doctors locally, bolster our emergency care team, and further enhance the quality of care we deliver to patients throughout the CSRA.”
The program is spearheaded by Program Director Dr. Becky Abell alongside Associate Program Director Dr. Lauren Post, with Christine Lane serving as the program administrator to manage operations and support for residents.
