1 injured in drive-by shooting in Colleton County

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. — A woman sustained injuries in a drive-by shooting early Tuesday morning in Colleton County.

The incident unfolded around 5:12 a.m. along the 500 block of Quail Drive. Responding to the scene, deputies from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office discovered the woman with a gunshot wound. She is currently in serious but stable condition, according to officials.

Investigators have determined that shots were discharged from a vehicle as it proceeded along Quail Drive toward Walterboro, targeting the woman’s vehicle.

Authorities suspect the shooting was a case of mistaken identity, believing the woman was not the intended target.

The investigation remains active. Detectives have identified the suspect vehicle as potentially being a dark gray sedan. Those with information are urged to contact the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office at 843-549-2211 or submit tips anonymously through their tip line.
