In a significant move to bolster power reliability, Duke Energy engineers are actively working on relocating power lines underground across Pinellas County, Florida. This initiative is a key component of the company’s storm hardening project, aimed at ensuring that the lights stay on for their over two million customers, particularly during hurricane seasons.

Duke Energy has already succeeded in transferring approximately 50% of Pinellas County’s power infrastructure below ground, spanning over 100 miles. The focus is on targeting the regions most susceptible to power outages, thereby expediting the process of restoring electricity for all residents.
