MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — A garage fire in Mattoon on Thursday morning resulted in no injuries or displacements, authorities reported.
The incident occurred on Dewitt Avenue, close to Vanlaningham Drive. According to Chief Jeff Hilligoss, fire crews were dispatched at 7:34 a.m. and arrived in just four minutes. They discovered smoke emanating from a detached garage. The blaze was promptly put out within five minutes using pressurized water extinguishers, and all fire units cleared the site by 7:55 a.m.
