PENNINGTON GAP, Va. (WJHL) — Republican gubernatorial nominee Winsome Earle-Sears was in Pennington Gap on Thursday to remember the attacks of Sept. 11.

Earle-Sears was joined by local veterans and law enforcement at the Pennington Gap Community Center in Lee County to pay her respects.

“Our EMS, EMTs, our dispatchers,” she said. “Sometimes people forget about our dispatchers and of course, law enforcement, the kind of operations personnel they need to know that we see them, that we care. Their families need to know that we see them and their service and their sacrifice and that we care. And as lieutenant governor, it is incumbent on me to make sure that at the highest levels, they know that we see.”

The lieutenant governor said the commonwealth wants to ensure nobody forgets those who died on Sept. 11.

Earle-Sears will visit Dickenson, Buchanan, Russell and Washington counties on Friday.
