WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) – As the May 5 primaries approach, early voting saw a remarkable uptick in participation across several counties, with the final day of early voting concluding on Thursday.
Election commissions throughout the region released the final early voting turnout figures Thursday afternoon, following the closure of the polls.
Local election officials noted a substantial rise in voter participation as the early voting period drew to a close. Washington County Election Administrator Chuck Vest highlighted this trend, noting a particularly busy final day.
“We’ve experienced a noticeable surge in voter turnout, with today marking the highest number of voters we’ve had throughout the entire early voting period,” Vest remarked.
