JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) —Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church served a complimentary breakfast to the Johnson City community on Sunday for Easter.
The church’s ministry, called “The Melting Pot,” serves a free breakfast every weekend and has an open-door worship service every Sunday.
Anthony Jackson, The Melting Pot facilitator, said the ministry serves any hungry individual from the community.
“We just really try to keep it focused on people’s situations.” he said. “So people who are not really used to being in a traditional church setting, they often don’t receive a traditional message the same way. We just try to tailor towards how Jesus is relevant in their life and their situation. We just want them to know that he’s always present.”
“The Melting Pot” hopes to start serving lunch and offering snacks during the week. Those interested in volunteering or donating items can visit the ministry’s Facebook page.
