ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Parents near Bridgewater School have long grappled with road congestion as the area continues to grow. On Tuesday, plans were announced to make significant improvements to Tiny Road.

Heather Parker, a mother of two who has lived in Horizon West for five years, expressed her concerns about the traffic.

“It’s busy to have kids at Summer Lake Elementary School and especially at Bridgewater School. Lots of traffic,” she told News 6.

Parker is among the parents who have advocated for the expansion of Tiny Road, where Bridgewater Middle School is located.

Currently, Tiny Road consists of two lanes, one in each direction. The plan, approved on Tuesday by the Orange County Board of Commissioners, includes expanded lanes, three roundabouts, and bike lanes. District One Commissioner Nicole Wilson stated that they are in the early stages and still need to determine the cost and start date.

“On Tiny Road leading up to Bridgewater, we’ve got all of these residences, people who want to be able to utilize walkability, but we don’t have that multi-use. This design provides that,” said Commissioner Wilson.

Parker is eager for the improvements to Tiny Road.

“It’s busy at times, especially during school pick-up and drop-off, and just having the traffic be able to flow with more roundabouts and not so many intersections blocked, it will be great,” she added.

This plan is for approximately 1.9 miles on Tiny Road starting from Bridgewater Middle School and ending at Tilden Road.
