ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) — After planning to hold its annual Independence Day Celebration at a new location in 2025, Elizabethton Parks and Recreation announced it was moving the event back to Covered Bridge Park.

The city had planned to celebrate the 4th of July at Elizabethton High School’s Citizens Bank Stadium due to increased traffic downtown that was tied to the closure of the Broad Street Bridge.

However, the Tennessee Department of Transportation announced the bridge would reopen on Wednesday.

Following that announcement, the decision was made to move the Independence Day Celebration back to its traditional site of Covered Bridge Park.

The event starts at 4:30 p.m. with the Little Miss Firecracker Pageant. The rest of the events, which include live music, food trucks and fireworks begin at 7 p.m.

Admission and parking at the event are free, and attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket.
