ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) — News Channel 11 spoke with the City of Elizabethton’s Street and Sanitation Department on Thursday to hear how it is prepared for Friday’s snowfall.
Danny Hilbert, Street and Sanitation Department manager, said his crews have all the essential tools to combat the storm.
“We have all our equipment ready to go with spreaders, salt spreaders and plows on them,” he said. “And we’ve checked all of our equipment to make sure that it’s in an operational order. We’ve got a salt bin that’s got approximately 900 tons of salt in it. And then our staff will be assigned to different areas in town.”
“And once the snow starts and we see that it could be problematic, then we will put the trucks in motion or the employees with the trucks in motion, and they will take care of the zones that are assigned to try to clear the roads,” Hilbert said.
Hilbert asked Elizabethton residents to stay safe indoors until crews can clear the roads.
