JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – The DP Culp Center at East Tennessee State University buzzed with excitement on Saturday as ETSU-Con kicked off its opening day.
Celebrating its 11th year, the student-organized event is set to draw in over 3,500 enthusiasts of sci-fi, fantasy, video games, anime, comics, and cosplay.
“ETSU-Con was the first convention I ever attended. I wasn’t aware of it during high school or earlier, but once I arrived here, I was amazed by this large-scale event that attracts thousands from the community and beyond,” shared Marcus Pack, an ETSU student and the Gaming Hall Coordinator for ETSU-Con.
Pack has spent the last two years as a coordinator, having previously volunteered at the convention.
