EVANS, Ga. () – Parents within the Columbia County School District have been formally informed about a significant change in the faculty at Evans High School. The Assistant Band Director, Patrick Williams, has stepped down from his role.

Williams’ resignation follows an investigation into allegations of inappropriate communication with a student. In light of this, the Columbia County School District has confirmed that Williams is no longer part of their staff.

Dear Parents,

In order to keep you informed, we are notifying you that Evans High School Assistant Band Director Patrick Williams has resigned and is no longer employed by the Columbia County School District. His resignation followed an investigation of improper communication with a student. From what we know at this time, no criminal charges are expected to be filed.

The CCSD Department of Human Resources will provide the necessary reports to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, in keeping with standard operating procedure.

Safety of students and staff is a top priority, and we take incidents such as these extremely seriously and will investigate fully. Inappropriate or improper staff conduct with students is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Please rest assured that this incident does not define the work of our exceptional high-quality educators and staff at Evans High School.

There will be no change to our band students’ class schedules, and a qualified replacement will be hired as soon as possible.
