NEW BERLIN, Ill. (WCIA) — A former employee of a school district in Sangamon County is now facing charges related to child sexual abuse, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office on Friday.

Lindsey Prather, 43, from New Berlin, was arrested on March 19, following a nearly year-long investigation into allegations of her involvement with a minor.

The case began on April 15, 2025, when the New Berlin School District notified local authorities about potential misconduct involving one of their employees and a minor. The matter was subsequently handed over to the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.
