BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A former professional football player and Alabama Crimson Tide standout athlete has been arrested, Nexstar’s WKRG has learned.

Timothy “TJ” Yeldon, 31, of Daphne, Alabama, was arrested on third-degree domestic violence, third-degree criminal mischief, and interference with a domestic violence emergency call, according to a Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The BCSO received an emergency phone call transfer from 911 around 1 a.m. Aug. 16, and “BCSO communication officers could hear what was believed to be a domestic violence offense occurring between a male and female,” the release said.

Deputies responded to the 28000 block of State Highway 181, according to officials.

They “knocked on the door and the male party saw the deputies, turned off the lights and refused to open the door,” the release said. “The caller stated that she was able to get to the bedroom and lock the door when deputies arrived, but after turning the lights off, the male party was attempting to get into the bedroom with the victim.

“This information was provided to the deputies on scene and BCSO personnel attempted to make forced entry. At that time, the male unlocked the door and was detained.”

Yeldon was taken to the BCSO corrections center and was released on a $2,000 bond, according to officials.

Yeldon played for the Alabama Crimson Tide before being drafted in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played 51 games in Jacksonville before being signed by the Buffalo Bills.

He left Jacksonville on less-than-great terms after then-executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin called the running back and Leonard Fournette “disrespectful, selfish and their behavior was unbecoming that of a professional football player,” for their demeanor during a playoff game, ESPN reported.

Yeldon then spent two seasons with the Bills, last playing three games in the 2020 season.
