NEOGA, Ill. (WCIA) — Lake Mattoon Marina is adding a new feature to attract more visitors.

They installed a new covered boat slip last month. There are 20 available spaces for people to park their boats. The lake manger said the parking spots make it convenient for people who travel back and forth, hauling their boat.

“This gives the people an opportunity to just park their car, walk down, get in the boat and get on the water,” said lake manager John Wurtsbaugh. “So more often they would come to the lake if they had easy access. And when there’s only one person to do it, it makes it difficult to launch it by yourself.”

The covered boat slip is private with a keypad for renters. Wurtsbaugh also said their plan is to build more boat slips in the future.
