CHAMPAIGN, Ill. ā In an unexpected turn of events, nearly 450 students residing in Snyder Hall at the University of Illinois have been forced to find new accommodations. This upheaval follows a significant incident two Sundays ago when the main water line to the dormitory burst, causing extensive flooding in the basement.
The flooding has left the basement’s essential systemsāelectric, water, and dataācompletely inoperable, as confirmed by Alma Sealine, the Executive Director of University Housing.
While the majority of students have moved out, Brooke Feeney, the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications for University Housing, noted that the belongings of 11 students remain in their Snyder Hall dorms. These students are currently away from campus for spring break and have yet to return to collect their things.
