RCSO gives follow-up on case of father who left children in McDonald's

AUGUSTA, Ga ()- Law enforcement officials from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office have announced a joint press conference to discuss new developments in the investigation surrounding the death of 23-year-old Xavion Wimberly.

On May 25 of this year around 3:00 a.m., Wimberly was killed when he was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross Deans Bridge Road.

The suspect, Daveyon TyShawn Williams, was later arrested and is currently charged with Vehicular Homicide, Hit-and-Run, and Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

Wimberly was the grandson of the late Judge Wimberly of Burke County.

During the press conference, officials from both agencies will provide critical case updates and announce a substantial reward, jointly sponsored by the Burke County and Richmond County Sheriff’s Offices, for information surrounding the incident.

The Wimberly family will be in attendance.

The press conference will take place Monday, June 30 at 3:45 p.m. at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office headquarters on Walton Way.
