NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. () – The Purple Hull has had much to offer the community since it opened in 2017, from fresh produce to serving up authentic, southern meals.

In this episode of “Your Hometown Roadtrip,” Brandon Dawson and the team visits The Purple Hull in North Augusta, and speaks with owner Ray Henderson discuss the growth of the business and what customers can expect.

What is The Purple Hull all about?

“We’re just a good, country cooking place. We didn’t start off that way. We started off as a produce and a meat market. Back in 2017, we started off that way, it was going really good. Then winter came along, then you kind of start looking at each other like, ‘okay, we’re not selling a a lot of that,’ so we started cooking and it took over,” said Henderson.

What types of food can people expect to get at The Purple Hull?

“You’re gonna find a variety. Each day, we do something different. Monday through Saturday, you’re gonna be able to come in and get anything from fried chicken, to pork chops, to beef tips and gravy to meatloaf, you know just such a variety,” he said.

What has the community response been like?

“The community’s been great. The more and more they find out about us, the say we need something like this in this area. We’ve got customers that repeat almost weekly and new people are finding out about us. It’s growing,” he said.

Henderson added, “The hospitality is really great. You go away satisfied. Hey, I had a good meal, a good wholesome meal.”

Henderson also had a special message he wanted to sent to the community.

“I just want to say thank you to employees, to the customers, you’re a blessing from God. Thank you for your support, your help, in every way,” he said. “Appreciate you.”

The Purple Hull is located at 10298 Atomic Road B in North Augusta, S.C. You can find them on social media for more information.
