TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. () — The Tybee Post Theater invites you to step into a world where fairy tales collide with their production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Tony Award-winning musical “Into the Woods.”

Director DJ Queenan and musical director Kristen Donaldson, PhD, joined News 3’s Andrew Davis on News 3 First at 4 to talk about the production.

This captivating show brings together beloved storybook characters—Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (of beanstalk fame), and more—for a journey that is both magical and deeply human.

At the heart of the story is a Baker and his Wife who long for a child. When a mysterious Witch reveals a curse is to blame, they set off on a quest through the woods to reverse their fate. Along the way, their path intertwines with others who are chasing their own dreams. But when “happily ever after” takes a dark turn, the characters must face the unexpected consequences of their choices.

Enchanting, humorous, and moving, Into the Woods is a rare modern classic that explores what happens after the fairy tale ends. With a stunning score and unforgettable characters, this production invites audiences of all ages to reflect on community, responsibility, and the stories we tell ourselves.

Join us for an unforgettable night of theater that proves wishes come true—but not always in the way you expect.
