UNICOI, Tenn. (WJHL) – A lively crowd gathered at Unicoi Elementary School on Saturday for a celebration filled with strawberries and entertainment.
The 23rd Annual Wayne Scott Strawberry Festival showcased the spirit of community involvement, highlighting local artisans, churches, and non-profit groups in a cherished tradition funded by the community.
Festival-goers enjoyed a variety of local cuisine, live music performances, and high-quality arts and crafts throughout the day.
Kevin McInturff, Mayor of Unicoi, expressed to News Channel 11 that the festival serves as an innovative approach to reinvesting in the community.
“It’s all about community,” McInturff stated. “We aim to create a space where people can unwind, have a wonderful day, and simply enjoy themselves. We’re proud to offer something so positive.”
The festival is named in honor of the founder of Scott’s Farm, Wayne Scott, who was ‘a generous Town of Unicoi community member.’
