SAVANNAH, Ga. — Excitement is building at Savannah Arts Academy as they put the final touches on their school-wide rendition of the classic musical, Grease, set to premiere on Tuesday.

In the heart of the John Varnedoe Auditorium, students spanning all grades and artistic disciplines are fully immersed in rehearsals, perfecting their lines, melodies, and choreography.

This vibrant production boasts a complete cast, a dedicated technical team, and a dynamic live pit band, ensuring a captivating performance that promises to engage audiences of every age group.

The 2026 show is spiced up with four special guest appearances, including a cameo by Savannah-Chatham County School Board President Roger Moss, infusing the performance with a delightful local twist.

“The students have truly dedicated themselves,” remarked Director Becky Solis. “We held auditions in August, which gives you an idea of their commitment. From then until the holiday break, they’ve poured their hearts into this project. With a live band adding to the magic, they’ve worked hard to create unique characters. I often describe it as an immersive experience because we aim for the audience to feel not just like they’re watching a performance, but as if they are a part of it.”

Savannah Arts Academy’s “Grease” opens Thursday, Jan. 29, in the auditorium.
