SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — This weekend marks a significant milestone for Springfield with the soft opening of the new 276-acre Scheels Sports Park. This expansive venue is welcoming visitors with its inaugural event, the Midwest Open Indoor Archery Tournament, running from Friday through Sunday.
The tournament is not the park’s only attraction; it also features a bustling marketplace with over 50 local vendors offering a variety of goods perfect for holiday shopping enthusiasts. This event is designed to bring the community together in a celebration of sport and local enterprise.
“Our aim is to foster community spirit, and this fair combined with the archery tournament exemplifies that mission,” stated General Manager Brandon Doherty in a press release. “This gathering is about our community, our families, and creating a space where we support one another. It’s not just an event; it’s a celebration of our collective spirit.”
