AUGUSTA, Ga. () – Augusta & Company is gearing up to draw more tourists to the Garden City.
In an exciting event on Broad Street, the tourism center revealed its fresh new look alongside the innovative “Bots on Broad” digital scavenger hunt.
This initiative was developed in collaboration with the Greater Augusta Arts Council and artist Leonard “Porkchop” Zimmerman.
Zimmerman shared, “Heather from the Arts Council reached out to me after visiting Greenwood or Greenville, where she noticed the ‘mice on main’ concept. She thought about what unique feature Augusta could have, and came up with robots. Thus, ‘Bots on Broad’ was born, designed to encourage people to explore downtown, discover new businesses, and visit places they might otherwise overlook.”
Additionally, they introduced a revamped experience guide, a redesigned destination website, and new mobile-friendly digital kiosks, all aimed at enhancing visitor engagement on the streets.
“It’s all about authentic experiences when you come to a destination,” said Karen Davis, the chief marketing officers at Destination Augusta. “I mean, every destination has restaurants, every destination has stores, everyone has hotels. But when you’re able to connect people with really fun interactive experiences, then they create their own memories. That’s what we want them to take away, is how they feel when they come to Augusta.”
