SAVANNAH, Ga. – As Thanksgiving approaches, our team at the newsroom took a moment to reflect on the essential dishes that should grace the holiday table.

We posed three key questions to staff members, sparking a lively debate over what truly makes a Thanksgiving meal complete.

• What dish absolutely has to be on the table?
• What is a popular dish that you just do not like?
• What is your must-do Thanksgiving tradition?

In the discussions, stuffing or dressing and macaroni & cheese emerged as the clear favorites among our team. Turkey followed closely, though some preferred ham as their main course.

In a surprising twist, two of our colleagues, Meteorologist Alysa Carsley and Producer Austin Michelson, stood out by naming cranberry sauce as their indispensable dish for Thanksgiving.

However, cranberry sauce also dominated the list of least favored dishes, with the majority of our team expressing their lack of enthusiasm. Other dishes frequently mentioned in this category included stuffing, turkey, and jello salad.

It would appear one thing we can take away is that two Thanksgiving staples (stuffing/dressing and cranberry sauce) fall in the love it or hate it category.

Watching the Macy’s Day Parade took the number one spot for must-do tradition on Thanksgiving. Watching football, gathering with loved ones and playing games of some kind were also popular choices.

A personal favorite was sent by meteorologist Hannah Evans, who said her top tradition is making sure there are plenty of leftovers to make a sandwich the next day.
