POOLER, Ga. () – After months of uncertainty, the Children’s Museum of Pooler is turning the page and finding a temporary home after losing their lease earlier this year.
Just days before their current location closes for good, the museum is getting ready for a fresh start. Director Sandra Bollig said it’s a new space where the possibilities are endless.
“It’s going to give us a lot more square footage to be able to expand our current exhibits and hopefully, you know, when we’ve got a little bit of extra resources, will be able to add some new exhibits, spaces and things like that,” Bollig said.
The temporary lease is for 12 months, which gives them more time to search for a permanent home. Bollig told it’s a steppingstone into the next phase.
“Over 22 different counties have come and done field trips with us,” she said. “I mean, we’ve got families coming from as far as Laurens County for field trips, schools and things too. So, we definitely meet a need that isn’t being met elsewhere within this community.”
She added relocating comes with a big price tag. Right now, they are looking for volunteers to help during this transition.
“Tanger is very excited to see how this larger space will allow them to do larger educational exhibits, increase the family friendly activity, ease and overall increase their membership through community support,” Keli Reynolds, Tanger Outlets general manager said.
We are told the projected opening date for the new location is mid-May. The current location closes for good April 26.
