Fatal Shooting in Orlando’s Ivanhoe Village After Dispute; Suspect in Custody, Police Report

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 33-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday morning after an altercation on North Orange Avenue, authorities reported.

According to the Orlando Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of North Orange Avenue at approximately 2:31 a.m. following a call about a shooting incident. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as Julien Emmanuel Cruz, was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, as stated in an official release.

Investigations revealed that Cruz had been engaged in both a verbal and physical dispute with the suspect, 37-year-old Jean Gabriel Borja Gil De La Madr, on the sidewalk. During the heated exchange, Borja Gil De La Madr allegedly retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and shot Cruz.

After the incident, Borja Gil De La Madr reportedly fled the scene in his vehicle. However, police later located the suspect’s vehicle on the 200 block of East New Hampshire Avenue.

Borja Gil De La Madr was arrested and faces charges of second‑degree murder with a firearm, Orlando police said.

According to the release, this is Orlando’s third homicide of 2026.

The investigation is ongoing.
