TUCSON, Ariz. – In a developing twist to a baffling disappearance, the FBI has found a glove containing DNA just two miles from the residence of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie. This glove bears a striking resemblance to those worn by a masked individual seen outside her Tucson home on the night she went missing.

Discovered in a field beside a road, the glove has been sent for DNA analysis. On Sunday, the FBI reported that preliminary DNA results had been received on Saturday, though they are still waiting for official confirmation to solidify its connection to the case.

Nancy Guthrie, aged 84, vanished from her Arizona home on January 31, with her absence formally reported a day later. Investigators have uncovered traces of her blood on the front porch, heightening concerns. In a perplexing twist, ransom notes were sent to media outlets, yet the deadlines for any potential payments have already expired without resolution.

Interestingly, a collection of around 16 gloves was found scattered near the Guthrie property, with most identified as belonging to the search teams. However, the glove linked by DNA potentially offers a crucial lead.

This revelation follows the release of surveillance footage by investigators, showing a masked figure loitering outside Nancy Guthrie’s front door. The porch camera captured the mysterious individual carrying a backpack and clad in a ski mask, long pants, a jacket, and gloves, further deepening the mystery of her disappearance.

On Thursday, the FBI called the person a suspect. It described him as a man about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a medium build. The agency said he was carrying a 25-liter “Ozark Trail Hiker Pack” backpack.

Authorities have expressed concern about Nancy Guthrie’s health because she needs vital daily medicine. She is said to have a pacemaker and have dealt with high blood pressure and heart issues, according to sheriff’s dispatcher audio on broadcastify.com.

Earlier in the investigation, authorities had said they had had collected DNA from Nancy Guthrie’s property which doesn’t belong to Guthrie or those in close contact with her. Investigators were working to identify who it belongs to.
