In a thrilling turn of events, a team from the FC Alliance North soccer club celebrated their triumphant return as state champions this month. They achieved this after avenging a previous defeat by overcoming the team that had ousted them in a spring competition, crafting a compelling story of redemption for the young athletes involved.
The victorious squad, known as the FC Alliance North’s 2014 Girls Johnson City team, hails from a mix of locales including Johnson City, Kingsport, and Carter County. They proudly brought back the Tennessee State Soccer Association’s (TSSA) U12 Girls D2 State Championship title to the Tri-Cities area.
The journey to victory was not without its challenges. Last spring, the team faced elimination in the state semi-finals while short a player. This fall, they confronted the same top-seeded team in the semi-finals once more. After a nail-biting draw, the girls emerged victorious in a dramatic penalty shootout, securing their spot in the finals.
The following day, the team clinched the state championship with an emphatic 4–0 victory, capping their remarkable season with a well-deserved title.
