GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The State of Tennessee and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have approved $6.2 million to replace Poplar Springs Bridge in Greene County.
Poplar Springs Bridge, which spans across the Nolichucky River, was destroyed when Hurricane Helene impacted the region.
According to FEMA, the 10,000-square-foot bridge will be demolished and restored through FEMA’s Public Assistance program, which reimburses states with 75% of eligible costs of repairs.
FEMA will contribute $4,656,288, and the nonfederal share is $1,552,096.
Bridge work will include architectural and engineering design services, using best construction particles and applicable codes and standards, FEMA said in a news release.
